The Heves Sports Association was founded in 1975 and currently has 13 departments, including athletics. Our association is mainly strong in athletic throwing events, with shot put and javelin being our specialities. Most of our competitors specialize in these events, but of course, the younger age groups receive general training and are later guided towards a suitable event.
Among the adults, we have several national championship titles in shot put and javelin. In the U16–U23 age groups, the department has a competitor standing on the national podium almost every year. We also boast national age-group competitors and world age-group competitors. Thanks to Noel Kovács, the group has also competed at the Universiade, but our throwers have also participated at the U18 and U20 European Championships.
Balázs Detrik is a two-time adult champion in the shot put, László Kovács is also a champion in the shot put, and Noel Kovács is a champion in the javelin, also in the adult age group.
We have been working with Ikarus BSE for 10 years. As an educational association, we are also in contact with one of the strongest and biggest athletic clubs in Budapest. The best athletes of all age groups are placed in the Ikarus sports club, so they can compete with the best athletics clubs with a much better background (with the joint support of the city of Heves and Ikarus BSE).
The aim is to strengthen and promote athletics. That is why we started throwing athletics. With national and international results, we will further promote the reputation of our city. The head coach of the group is Gyula Kovács, who is also the president of Hevesi SE and a nationally recognized coach of Ikarus BSE. The coach is a city representative who, as a councillor for sport and youth, helps to promote the city’s sporting life alongside athletics. In addition to the development of sporting life, the improvement of conditions is also ongoing.
Will be added after the 2025 event.
