6th INTERNATIONAL EAP Sicily Meeting 2024 SATURDAY 20 APRIL 2024 ORGANIZATIONAL TECHNICAL DEVICE

The S.D. Sicilian Athletic Sport Race Association with the FIDAL Sicily Regional Committee organize the 6th EAP Sicily Meeting 2024 The International event will take place on Saturday 20 April, at the athletics field "Stadio Campo Scuola – via Grasso Finocchiaro, Catania”.

Participations: the best Sicilian athletes, Italian duly registered for the year 2024, belonging to the categories: students, juniors, senior M / F promises, will take part in the competition. In addition, athletes from various European federations, duly registered for the current season, will participate.

The first three athletes classified in each race will be awarded. The awards will take place at the end of each single race.

Lane allocation, alignment, jumping and throwing rounds will be established by the Technical Delegate at the Secretariat, immediately after confirmation of the registrations by the Athletes.

Athletes, after confirming the registration, to be carried out 60 'minutes before the competition at the TIC, must, without further call, present themselves to the CALL ROOM 20' minutes before the competition for races and 40 'minutes for competitions, penalty exclusion from the tender itself.

As far as running races are concerned, electric timing will be in operation.

N.B. Depending on the number of members or due to force majeure, the program may undergo changes which will be communicated at 15.30 am at the JURY AND COMPETITORS meeting.

Goal of the meet: promote athletics in Sicily. To promote and strenghten the contact with the neighboring countries.

History

The Athletics section of the C.U.S. Catania was born in the late fifties. The men's team was led for a short time by Prof. Bruno Cacchi who then entrusted it to prof. Santo Barbagallo and Vicenzo Abbatelli; later other technicians collaborated including Franco Bandieramonte, Rosario Guerrera, Pippo Rossi, Roberto Nicolosi.

Today it is led by Nuccio Leonardi, prof.ssa Rosetta Milazzo and prof. Roccaforte Domenico. The women's team was born around the sixties. It was led for a few years by prof. Santo Caponnetto and then by Prof. Maria D’amico Abbatelli, assisted by her husband. Subsequently, the professors Vito Riolo Sabina Murabito and Antonio Belluomo collaborated.

In the competitive year '94 -'95 she finished in tenth place at the Livorno Corporate Championships; won two championships in the specialty championships in Rieti in the triple jump with Luisa Celesia, Salvina La Porta, Giusy Malerba and Dora Castiglione in the long jump with Celesta, La Porta, Malerba and Brigida Napoli, she obtained the ninth place in the Italian Cup in Cesena, the eleventh place at the Italian junior corporate championships; he also won the C.d.S. regional cross-country juniores and cadets and senior vice-champion placed fourth at the Italian junior club championships in Ferrara.

The team also saw Luisa Celesia (second place in the triple jump at the final stage of the race), and Eleonora Caruso (Italian champion in the 5 km walk) who, summoned in the Juniores National Team, placed eighth (best Italian ) to the "Eight Nations" of Fourgeres - Rennes in France; Nicoletta Albini third at the promises International meeting, engaged in the blue jersey in the 4 × 400 mt relay, and Maria Vaneria called up in the junior national team, was fourth in the Individual Junior Championships of Nembro and Salvina La Porta third in the triple jump, always in the same manifestation.

At the Absolute _Individual Championships the Cusi-Catania team obtained two bronzes with Fiorella Ferrari in the 400hs and in the 4 × 400m relay with Ferrari, Francesca Mazzullo, Francesca Liga and Nicoletta Albini.

To the results obtained by the absolute team we must add those of the cadet team that at the National Criterium of Riccione was the real protagonist with Valentina Milazzo (second in the race walk), Simona La Pera (fifth in the javelin with 38.18 meters), Elisa Sciuto (fifth in the 300 meters hs in 46 "5 and Letizia Pugliesi (fourth in 600 meters in 1'40" 36).

In the competitive year '95 -'96, the team achieved brilliant results both in the regional and national fields, it was classified in 2nd place at the Absolute Italian Indoor Society Championship (Torino 24-26 / 02/96), at 4th ° place in the Absolute Italian Championship of Final Society A (Milan 12/06/96), in 1st place in the IV edition of the Italian Cup (Rieti 28-29 / 09/96), in 1st place both in the Championship of Society of absolute specialty group jumps (long and triple) both in the final classification for the group of specialties jumps and again in 3rd place for the group of specialties jumps.

Some athletes have been called several times to the National rallies of Formia and Tirrenia and have worn the blue U23 jersey.

Maria Moroni participated in the Five Nations Indoor Trophy held in Genoa (11/02/97) and in the Universiade '97 (Catania 29/08/97), Maria Vaneria in the javelin took part in the International meeting of Italy-France throws (Nice 23/03/97), Margherita Nicolussi in 60m Hurdles at the International meeting Italy-France under 23 8 Livien 02/03/97), Giorgia Barbatella in the puck and Anita Pistone in speed were part of the Under 23 team at the Turku European Championships. Anita Pistone was the fourth relay runner (4 × 100 meters) of the Italian team at the 1997 Universiade.

In the last three years the women's team has always centered the National Serie B Final and the men's in the last two years.

New talents and promising young people are appearing from our nursery and increasingly tread the national stages. Our tip is the young Iuvara Lia, a sprinter, able to be present at the last World Championships held in Marackesch (Morocco), at various rallies of the Italian national team and entered in the "Talent Project" which gathers the best young Italians who will defend the colors of the our Nation to Upcoming International Commitments.
