The 31st Arcobaleno AtleticaEuropa Meeting will be held on Thursday 18 July at the Giuseppe Olmo-Pino Ferro sports center in Celle Ligure, an appointment organized by the Celle Ligure Athletic Center and the Arcobaleno Athletics Savona, promoted by the Municipalities of Celle Ligure and Varazze. with the support of the Agostino De Mari Foundation and with the sponsorship of the Liguria Region, the Province of Savona, Coni, Cip, Inail and Fispes.

The Meeting lives all year round, thanks to a corollary of events conceived and realized during the entire season. Two appointments characterized, first of all, by a large participation of Swiss clubs: Eurospring (April 17th) and Spring Triathlon, Eurospring (April 22nd), the municipal, district and provincial activities of the Athletics students and the Arcobaleno School Meeting, staged on Tuesday 4th June in Boissano in the name of integration between able-bodied and disabled students, with the participation of about four hundred students and three testimonials of exceptional value such as Davide Sciuva (National wheelchair hockey), Marco Basso (Special Olympics athlete, medal of 'gold in Abu Dhabi in swimming) and Francesco Alipede, Special Olympics medalist in volleyball.

"The Arcobaleno Meeting Athletics Europe is an event that has reached the thirty-first edition that the Liguria Region supports with conviction - says Ilaria Cavo, sport councilor of the Liguria Region -. The initiative, promoted by the ability to create a network of local authorities, together with the Agostino De Mari Foundation, Coni, Cip, Inail and Fispes, is one of the main national Fidal events. The peculiarity of the Arcobaleno Meeting is also that of not having a limited duration, but of living throughout the year thanks to the proliferation of connected events, which take place during different periods of the season. Finally, another added value of the event is the ability to know how to link and enhance other sectors such as school, territory and tourism: the systemization of the different skills is an added value that can and must lead to achieving increasingly important results ".

For Caterina Mordeglia, mayor of Celle Ligure, "the Arcobaleno Meeting is an international event through which the Municipality of Celle Ligure enhances sporting activity with the promotion of a healthy, positive and educational model. Sport is wellness and health, it is passion and discipline in the constant commitment of training, it is growth and individual training, it helps to socialize and know oneself and to respect the adversary. My biggest thanks goes to the organizing team, to all those who are doing their utmost for the success of this project “.

The event was also attended by the sport councilor of Celle Ligure Roberto Piombo, the president of Coni Liguria Antonio Micillo, the president of Fidal Liguria Riccardo Artesi, the presidents Angelo Marchese (Atletica Celle Ligure) and Santino Berrino (Atletica Arcobaleno Savona) together with the organizational director Giorgio Ferrando.

The Arcobaleno AtleticaEuropa Meeting, entered by Fidal in the Italian Athletics Project Meeting circuit with the qualification of an international event, is characterized by the expected participation of 450 athletes arriving from twenty nations with, in particular, the presence of some delegations of the Europe Athletisme Promotion circuit of which Celle Ligure has been part of since its first edition: Namur (Belgium), Budapest (Hungary), Loughborough (Great Britain), Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Malta.

The Meeting is the scene of exciting absolute challenges in the race and in the jumps together with the 20th Trofeo Insieme nel Sport, in collaboration with the Agostino de Mari Foundation, dedicated to the 100 and 400 meters Paralympic. Attention also to the Special Olympics activity (50 meters and vortex). The 28th Memorial Rolando Fregoli (800 men), the 25th Gran Premio Giuseppe Olmo (100 men), the 13th Trofeo Michele Olmo (100 women), the 29th Trofeo AtleticaEuropa (400 women) and the 29th Trophy will be awarded. Avis Celle Ligure (400 men). The 9th Gian Mario Delucis Trophy is tied to the 100 male and female juniors (Under 20). The program includes youth competitions at 3.30 pm and the International Meeting starting at 6.00 pm.

Very interesting race in the 800 women with the bearer Stefania Biscuola (Atletica Arcobaleno) on the starting line together with Serena Troiani, Irene Vian, the Danish Stina Troest (2'02 ″ 71) and the South African Mandle Brandt (2'04 ″ 20) . In the 400 Hurdles, the star of the South African Zeney Van der Walt (55"05) shines, graduating from the Under 20 world champion in 2018 a few weeks after having participated in the Arcobaleno Meeting.

Eye also to the English Jess Turner and Anna Nelson. In the Long  jump the young Anabel Vitale (Atletica Arcobaleno) faces the English Kitan Eleyae. The Spanish Carmen Sanchez wants to win the 400. In the men's field, a good 7.99 accreditation for the Hungarian Laszlo Szabo in the long run. Challenge New Zealand-Japan in the 400 Hurdles between Mike Cochrane and Keisuke Nozawa with the blue Mattia Contini to act as a third wheel, in the 400 favored the English Owen Smith. The 100 see the Australian Jin Su Jung as the protagonist, in the 200s the young host Luca Biancardi (Atletica Arcobaleno) wants to stand out in the context of a stimulating challenge against the highly popular Japanese Akiyuki Hashimoto (20 "35)

Great expectations also for the Paralympic challenges, the 400 reserved for athletes in wheelchairs, to compete for the 20th Trofeo Insieme in the Agostino De Mari Sports Foundation at 7.20 pm and 9.10 pm.

The preview of the 31st Meeting Arcobaleno, supported by Olmo and Karhu, will take place on Wednesday 17 July, starting at 9.15 pm, with a musical evening on the stage in Piazzetta Arecco. On this occasion there will be a chance to get to know many of the protagonists of the races of the following day more closely.

Si terrà giovedì 18 luglio, presso il centro sportivo Giuseppe Olmo-Pino Ferro di Celle Ligure, il 31° Meeting Arcobaleno AtleticaEuropa, appuntamento a cura del Centro Atletica Celle Ligure e dell’Atletica Arcobaleno Savona, promosso dai Comuni di Celle Ligure e Varazze, con il supporto della Fondazione Agostino De Mari e con il patrocinio di Regione Liguria, Provincia di Savona, Coni, Cip, Inail e Fispes.

Il Meeting vive tutto l’anno, grazie a un corollario di manifestazioni ideate e realizzate durante l’intera stagione. Due appuntamenti caratterizzati, in primis, da una nutrita partecipazione di club svizzeri: Eurospring (17 aprile) e Triathlon di Primavera, Eurospring (22 aprile), l’attività comunale, distrettuale e provinciale degli Studenteschi di atletica leggera ed il Meeting Arcobaleno Scuola, in scena martedì 4 giugno a Boissano all’insegna dell’integrazione tra studenti normodotati e disabili, con la partecipazione di circa quattrocento alunni e tre testimonial di valore eccezionale quali Davide Sciuva (Nazionale wheelchair hockey), Marco Basso (atleta Special Olympics, medaglia d’oro ad Abu Dhabi nel nuoto) e Francesco Alipede, medagliato Special Olympics nella pallavolo.

“Il Meeting Arcobaleno AtleticaEuropa è una manifestazione giunta alla trentunesima edizione che Regione Liguria supporta con convinzione – afferma Ilaria Cavo, assessore allo sport di Regione Liguria -. L’iniziativa, promossa dalla capacità di fare rete degli enti territoriali, insieme a Fondazione Agostino De Mari, Coni, Cip, Inail e Fispes, si inserisce tra le principali manifestazioni nazionali Fidal. La peculiarità del Meeting Arcobaleno è anche quella di non avere una durata limitata, ma di vivere tutto l’anno grazie al proliferare di manifestazioni collegate, che si svolgono durante diversi periodi della stagione. Altro valore aggiunto della manifestazione, infine, è la capacità di saper legare e valorizzare altri comparti come scuola, territorio e turismo: la messa a sistema delle diverse competenze è un valore aggiunto che può e deve portare a raggiungere risultati sempre più importanti”.

Per Caterina Mordeglia, sindaco di Celle Ligure, “il Meeting Arcobaleno è un evento internazionale attraverso cui il Comune di Celle Ligure valorizza l’attività sportiva con la promozione di un modello sano, positivo ed educativo. Lo sport è benessere e salute, è passione e disciplina nel costante impegno degli allenamenti, è crescita e formazione individuale, aiuta a socializzare e conoscere se stessi e a rispettare l’avversario. Alla presentazione dell’evento sono inoltre intervenuti l’assessore allo sport di Celle Ligure Roberto Piombo, il presidente del Coni Liguria Antonio Micillo, il presidente Fidal Liguria Riccardo Artesi, i presidenti Angelo Marchese (Atletica Celle Ligure) e Santino Berrino (Atletica Arcobaleno Savona) assieme naturalmente al direttore organizzativo Giorgio Ferrando.

Il Meeting Arcobaleno AtleticaEuropa, inserito dalla Fidal nel circuito Atletica Italiana Progetto Meeting con la qualifica di evento internazionale, è caratterizzato dalla partecipazione attesa di 450 atleti in arrivo da venti nazioni con, in particolare, la presenza di alcune delegazioni del circuito Europe Athletisme Promotion di cui Celle Ligure fa parte sin dalla prima edizione: Namur (Belgio), Budapest (Ungheria), Loughborough (Gran Bretagna), Belfast (Irlanda del Nord) e Malta.

Il Meeting è teatro di entusiasmanti sfide assolute nella corsa e nei salti assieme al 20° Trofeo Insieme nello Sport, in collaborazione con la Fondazione Agostino de Mari, dedicato ai 100 e 400 metri paralimpici. Attenzione anche all’attività Special Olympics (50 metri e vortex). Verranno assegnati il 28° Memorial Rolando Fregoli (800 uomini), il 25° Gran Premio Giuseppe Olmo (100 uomini), il 13° Trofeo Michele Olmo (100 donne), il 29° Trofeo AtleticaEuropa (400 donne) ed il 29° Trofeo Avis Celle Ligure (400 uomini). Il 9° Trofeo Gian Mario Delucis è legato ai 100 maschili e femminili della categoria Juniores (Under 20). Il programma prevede alle ore 15,30 le gare giovanili e a partire dalle 18 il Meeting internazionale.

Gara molto interessante negli 800 femminili con la portacolori Stefania Biscuola (Atletica Arcobaleno) sulla linea di partenza assieme a Serena Troiani, Irene Vian, la danese Stina Troest (2’02″71) e la sudafricana Mandle Brandt (2’04″20). Nei 400 ostacoli, brilla la stella della sudafricana Zeney Van der Walt (55″05), laureatasi campionessa mondiale Under 20 nel 2018 poche settimane dopo aver partecipato al Meeting Arcobaleno.

Occhio anche alle inglesi Jess Turner e Anna Nelson. Nel salto il lungo la giovanissima Anabel Vitale (Atletica Arcobaleno) affronta l’inglese Kitan Eleyae. La spagnola Carmen Sanchez vuole vincere i 400. In campo maschile, buon 7,99 d’accredito per l’ungherese Laszlo Szabo nel lungo. Sfida Nuova Zelanda-Giappone nei 400 ostacoli tra Mike Cochrane e Keisuke Nozawa con l’azzurro Mattia Contini a fare da terzo incomodo, nei 400 favorito l’inglese Owen Smith. I 100 vedono protagonista l’australiano Jin Su Jung, nei 200 il giovane padrone di casa Luca Biancardi (Atletica Arcobaleno) desidera mettersi in evidenza nell’ambito di una stimolante sfida contro il quotatissimo giapponese Akiyuki Hashimoto (20″35)

Grande attesa anche per le sfide paralimpiche, i 400 riservati ad atleti in carrozzina, a contendersi il 20° Trofeo Insieme nello Sport Fondazione Agostino De Mari alle 19,20 e alle 21,10.

L’anteprima del 31° Meeting Arcobaleno, sostenuto da Olmo e Karhu, si svolgerà mercoledì 17 luglio, a partire dalle ore 21,15, con serata musicale sul palco di piazzetta Arecco. In questa occasione ci sarà modo di conoscere più da vicino molti dei protagonisti delle gare del giorno successivo.
