Indoor Amsterdam (NED)

Swiss Biya and home runner Van der Schaaf win EAP Indoor Amsterdam

On Saturday, January 25, Phanos organized the Indoor Amsterdam, part of the European EAP circuit.
More than two hundred Dutch and 22 foreign athletes traveled to Sportcentrum Ookmeer to compete on long jump, high jump, 60 m sprint and / or 60 m hurdles. There were two combined classifications for jumping and sprinting, whereby both parts for both genders were converted to IAAF points and prizes were awarded.
Jarod Biya (Switzerland) won with jumps of 7.46. Second was Marlies van Haaren (Phanos) with a jump over 1.78 m at high jump. The third place also came from the long jump men: Dudly Boeldak (Rotterdam Athletics) came to 7.36. Dave Brandhoff (Lycurgus) won big in the high jump for men with 2.04. With long jump women it was an exciting competition with the final top 3 at 7 centimeters apart. Until her last jump, Nynke van den Heuvel (AAC) was third, but with a final attempt of 5.79 she managed to win the game. In the same competition, para-athlete Fleur Jong (Phanos, IPC 64) came to 5.68 - 4 cm below her own world record.
The home club won the jump/hurdle ranking: the 7.81 from Liam van der Schaaf (Phanos) on the 60m hurdles was enough to win this ranking, and also put him in 9th place all the time. He was flanked by the best two sprinters: Nketia Seedo (U-track) came to 7.44 and became second in the overall classification and Nargelis Statia (Rotterdam Athletics) to 7.46. Extra good from Seedo, as a junior she managed to work on the senior stage. Chanté Samuel (Phanos) came to 8.47 on the 60m hurdle: apart from two points not enough for a place on the podium but a big PR. In the 60m sprint there were also fast performances in the men: Theodoor Young (South Africa) won in 6.78 and Keitharo Oosterwolde (Phanos) came in second in 6.83 - the latter was enough for a new track record at the JJA and thereby strengthens its 4th place in the all-time ranking.
