Exactly one year after the first lockdowns, the EAP is undergoing necessary and imposed changes.
Obviously, proposing the 2021 program is not an easy task, but the will of the circuit organizers is evident in order to allow athletes of all levels to rediscover the pleasure of competition.
Our site has been updated with the dates of the meetings which, to date, are valid.
The organisers of the Catania meeting, despite the understandable difficulties, wish to maintain the date of April 24 and thus give a strong signal to start the summer season. Aware that it will be complicated, and perhaps even impossible, for foreign athletes to travel to Sicily, they nevertheless want to allow the athletic movement of the whole island to go back on track. It is the most important.
If, however, the government were to impose new measures, a new date will be proposed so that the meeting in Catania takes place sooner or later.
Our second meeting, that of Malta's island neighbors, has been moved to Saturday July 17th. Indeed the very recent ministerial decision of imposed closure of all sports facilities until at least April 11, would have entailed, among other things, a risk of injury in view of the preparation of the meeting of May 8. It is therefore for a choice of reason that the organizers of the Malta meeting.
The second meeting proposed by the EAP becomes that of Castiglione della Pescaia whose date of May 19 is maintained. Registrations will be open from March 15th. A brand new website has just been launched for the occasion.
The other meeting in May will be in Budapest, on May 22. Given the restrictions currently in force in Hungary, the organisers preferred to be cautious with the opening of registrations and wait for the next government announcements. As a result, registrations will only open on April 7. It should also be noted that the Budapest meeting will put their new website online on this occasion.
The season will continue in June with the Geneva meeting on June 12 and whose registrations have also been delayed until April 23.
The Nivelles meeting will take place one week later, on Saturday, June 19, then hoping that the following meetings will all be maintained on the scheduled dates.
The EAP circuit, in its global vision of developing clean and complete athletics, includes other sectors, namely EAP Future (with competitions dedicated to U16s and more young people), EAP Together (which offers to integrate one or more Paralympics disciplines) and EAP Running (competitions outside the stadium).
We are in discussions with national parathletes in order to strengthen this sector and allow athletes with a disability to participate in our meetings in Europe in order to create new synergies and motivations to meet athletes from other countries.
