December 19, 2019
Bad news arrived just before Christmas : The "meeting européen" of Valence (F) had to withdraw for the 2020 edition, initially scheduled on 6th June.
The reason of this decision is actually something positive : the track is being resurfaced.
But not only the track in facts: works are undertaken for a larger project.
The city of Valence, owner of the facilities, has recently informed the organizer club that heavy development works will be undertaken to the stadium during the first half of 2020.
In this way, both the French Athletics and Rugby federations will benefit from a new stadium whose standard requirements may coexist (www.francebleu.fr).
For this reason, the EAP "Meeting Européen" can't be organised and Valence decide to skip one year.
This forced sabbatical year will also allow the organizers to strengthen their staff and return in 2021 with a new meeting project. We are delighted.
